Description:

I am KVB Reddy, Working in an IT Firm based out of Hyderabad. I used to play a lot of cricket, Shuttle and Table Tennis before 2014. My Wife used to participate in a lot of running events which got me motivated & I switched to running in 2014. Finished my first Half Marathon in 2 Hours 48 minutes ( Hyderabad Course) with very less training efforts & decided to train better and run the same route again.

Finished 9 Full Marathons ( 3:08 PB ), 3 trial ultra runs, 2 times 12 hours stadium runs so far. I also enjoy long distance cycling, Got the Super Randonneur ( 200KM, 300KM, 400 Km and 600 KM Cycling ) title from Hyderabad Randonneurs. We also do charity rides as part of the "Triders India" group to raise funds and help the underprivileged kids who live in hamlets around Vizag/Araku region. These rides typically start from Hyderabad and end in another City ( Vizag, Mysore, Rameswaram, etc. )

Coming to Hyderabad course - I have finished the full-marathon course 5 times apart from my training runs on the same course :) & paced the 4:15 FM bus in 2019.

As you all know this is the toughest city marathon in India and has a lot of inclines and declines, the approach would be completely even splits effort but We will take it slow on the hills to be conservative and cover up the time in the downhills. Always Happy to Pace, Thanks to Hyderabad runners for giving me the opportunity. See you on the Course !!

Description:

My Running Journey started in 2018 and now everything in my life is revolving around it. I consider myself a novice in running and strongly believe in learning from each other. I am pleased to have done my first 12 HR stadium run (3rd Place), first ultra-trail run (7th Place) and achieved my FM PB (3:10:31) in the last one year. Support from family and friends keeps me going as I try to do One Marathon & One trail/Ultra each year.

I have always found running the Hyderabad marathon very gratifying, as it is my home turf and always test’s the runner in you. Last year was the best I ran and stood 2nd in FM Open Category. The event is very well organised, and the race day experience is very memorable.

It’s my first pacing experience and I feel privileged to pace the 4 hours full-marathon bus in this year’s Hyderabad Marathon. I am grateful to Hyderabad Runners for giving me this opportunity and hope to help my co-runners in accomplishing their goals.

Though the course is hillier and considered tough, I believe if you strategize your route pace properly you should be able to attain your timings (slightly conservative on uphill and utilise the downhills). For my pacing, I have divided the route into three segments of 10 K, 18K and the rest of 14.195K. The first 10K is flatter terrain and I plan to do it at an average of 5:35. The second 18K has a good amount of elevation and downhills, but it is also the segment which is most spirited with the rhythm settling in. With the HM and 10 K runners around us, I plan to average around 5:40. The last segment has relatively easier terrain than the previous one but will be the most challenging part of the race, testing both your mental & physical forte. This is the segment where FM runners are all alone and are well spread across, trying to keep up the company and find new friends to run along with. Be relaxed in this segment and in no time, you will be heading towards the finish line. Whatever time we have saved in the first two segments will be used in this segment to comfortably finish the race.

I have started my running journey in 2014 (Before 2014 - my physical activity was Cricket. I used to play lot of cricket representing my company in the tournaments ). Finished my first AHM half marathon in 2015 and that’s when I decided to take this sport as a challenge. Finished 6 Full Marathons, Couple of Ultra Marathons and a 12 Hour stadium run under my belt so far.

Pacing Strategy:

Strategy would be run even splits ( Run each Kilo meter at the pace of 5:55 so that we could save time for having water/energy drinks at the water station ). Taking easy on the hills and covering that time on the downhills would be a good approach for Hyderabad Course.

In early 2017, I chose to lead a physically active lifestyle with running to stay healthy and fit. I enjoy the process of training more than racing.

Pacing Strategy:

Conservative approach, planning slightly negative to even efforts based splits with regular short walk breaks. Respect hills, don't challenge them on race day, run them slow, steady and strong. If you have 4:30h Marathon fitness, we can help you get there to achieve your goal with our pacing.

Qualified among 50 runners for silk route challenge in leh for 122km this year. I have paced a number of friends in individual capacities from races ranging from 10km to 100km. It gives immense satisfaction and pleasure to see people achieving their goals. Also, now all events are not races for myself personally. So, in those events I want to contribute in whatever capacity I can.

Strategy is positive splits, specifically HYD 1st 10 km is flater and then flyover and rolling hills at KBR and again some flyovers, so positive splits is a better option.

The Hyderabad Marathon is like 2nd home to me. I truly enjoy racing this course and this year I’m happy to serve the duties of pacing the Full Marathon 5 hours bus. The idea of this 5:00 hour bus would be to use the first 10km of the flat course to our advantage and gradually build towards the first half of the Marathon distance with mandatory walk breaks at the aid station. The 2nd half of the Marathon would be a steady effort and making sure we cross the finish line comfortably. There will be a lot of fun, dancing and smiling when you cross the finish line.

Description:

Always a sports enthusiast, I am very particular about being healthy and fit. However, running happened very late in life, when I was 54. Since then, I have done quite a few full marathons, and many half-marathons. Running an FM in my debut TMM in 4hr:45min, within 5 months of my first 10k was the highpoint of my life.

What started as a way of fitness has turned into a lifelong passion. The year after taking to running, I switched to MAF training, and there’s no looking back. I clocked 4200kms. In 2020, completed two HDORs (Hundred Days of Running) clocking about 1700km in each, and ran 15HMs consecutively, during the closing end of HDOR. MAF has greatly helped my running, both in terms of endurance and speed. I won the podium in my age group, with a 48min. 10k effort at the Durgam Cheruvu Run. I also ran my best HM at the Stadium Run with a 1hr. 48min. Finish.

I aspire to make Runners of People.

While running for one's own health and fitness is a great joy, the joy of helping a fellow runner reach his/her goal is many notches higher. I experienced this during my first pacing assignment last year at the AHM, when I paced the 5hr. FM bus. I train with the LB Nagar Runners group, one of the most passionate and disciplined running groups in Hyderabad. I have been greatly benefitted by the running community. It is time to return the favour by helping other runners fulfil their running dreams.

The Hyderabad marathon route is very tricky. The hardest climbs come at the fag end of the race, not to mention the many flyovers in between. The idea is to have a plan that is smart enough to tackle elevation and reserve energy for the last. A 7:30 pace for the first 10k should be good to start with as the route is largely flat around the Hussainsagar lake. Next 10k with 3-4k elevation should be done at 7:50 pace. 20-30k is rolling, hence a 7:40 pace should do, while the last 12k could be done at an easy 8:10. While walking breaks are fine, a 10k pace target should always be kept in mind.

I have been running for the past 15 years. Till date I have run 221 registered Marathons including 11 Ultra Marathons (50Kms), 48 FMs and 162 HMs for which I have a finisher certificate or Medal or both. I am the finisher member of the Seven continents Club for which one has to complete FM in all the seven continents of the world including Antarctica. I have also represented Telangana State (previously combined Andhra) in the Masters Athletic Association at the National level from 2010 in 100, 200, and 400-metres sprint and have won several gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

I have been running the Hyderabad Marathon course (HM/FM) right from the first year 2011 and have not missed a single edition so far. I love the challenge of walking and running the Flyovers and the rolling hills.

My Pacing a journey as a Six-hour pacer started in SCMM 2014 and continued in 2015 also. This role I have done Twice in Shriram Properties Bengaluru Marathon (2014 and 2015), 5 times in the Wipro Chennai Marathon Chennai (2014-2018) and once in Airtel Hyderabad Marathon (2014).

As a pacing strategy I have been advocating walk breaks at every water station. We will be finishing the HM distance by 02:50 Minutes and this will give us reasonable time to complete the second half by alternate minute walk and run or for those who don’t like walk break, slow jog. This will be a conversational pace and runners are encouraged to share their stories or sing if they want. Our team runners have to necessarily take walking breaks at every water point by walking a FULL ONE MINUTE and continue the run at the recommended pace. This is the most ideal time for making friends and sharing stories.

Race at your pace. Mix with co runners and share your experience. Talk, Sing, Dance and of course walk and run. Enjoy the run throughout the 42 KMs.

Personal best HM (1:56) at NEB Hyderabad Half Marathon' 2019.

Personal best FM (4:29) at TMM ' 2020.

Also pacing a half, helps me in preparing for future Full marathons that I intend to participate in.

Description:

Having picked running in my early 40s, I feel I have come a long way starting from Couch to 5K in 2019. From running merely 250 km in 2019, I ran 2400+ km in 2020 and in 2022 YTD I have covered 2100+ kms with an overall experience of running 8000Km. My consistency & commitment for running has helped me in improving my Half Marathon timing from 3:02 in 2019 to 1:54 during Club Run in 2022. Having completed 2 Full Marathons with a current PB of 4:35, I love the process of building training blocks. Having enrolled in the HR Run & Shine program 3 times, I am an advocate of strength training. Running across the rolling terrains of Hyderabad gives me real pleasure just like running across multiple cities.

The Hyderabad Marathon is very special to me as I have run the course during my First Half Marathon and I have run the gruelling course as my First Official Full Marathon. The relentless rolling course of the race makes it one of the most challenging race courses across the country – but we runners don’t like things to be easy. The awesome volunteer support and the picture perfect course makes the run absolutely memorable.

I always want to pass my gratitude to the Hyderabad runners and I feel it would be apt for me to choose this event to help others achieve their goals.

I am delighted to be picked for the 60 min 10K bus. Though the pacing experience would be new to me but I am known for not only for even splits but also cheering the folks running along. Let’s keep it simple as I plan to go for even splits and very importantly enjoy the course and sag support.

Pacing bus: 01:10 hr:mins

Place: Hyderabad

Running group:Hyderabad Runners

Description:

I am Anju Patel, a working IT single mother who is devoted towards home and office and believes in raising my own bar. I only took up running at the age of 34 as a part of a Hyderabad 10 km. I used to run and utilise this time as “Time for myself” which would help me to plan out my whole day activities including personal and official.

Nothing is possible without family support and my daughter has been showing her love by managing Sundays on her own when I go for long runs. This support has made me build up the courage to do 3 full timed Marathons in Hyderabad, one Full timed in Mumbai, one 50 km timed ultra-marathon and one full non timed Marathon run till date.

I don't run to add days to my life ,I run to add life to my days .

I believe that the way we have an entire day well-planned for daily activities, on corresponding ranks we should also include one hour of physical workout in our daily schedule. I am a strong plan believer. This will help me to achieve the practical target set by myself. I strongly believe in the strong sentiment that if women at home are strong then the whole house can be moulded strongly, and the family is fit and active.

At the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 20222, I shall be running the first 5 km in 35 minutes and the last 5km in 34 minutes and 30 minutes . I will ensure that I am there for others, not for myself .

Description:

From 42k to 400m, I have trained and ran them all. With multiple podiums at all race distances, my best achievement is a Gold medal in 800m at the Asian Masters Athletics Championships, 2019.

The Hyderabad Marathon needs a special pacing strategy because of the elevation. Will pace accordingly.

I would love to get runners to meet their race goal timings and believe I know what it takes to motivate them.

Description:

Tulja is a full time IT professional in a leading IT company. She is an avid reader ,likes spending time with her family and loves travelling. Her journey with fitness started in 2015 , when her mother-in-law coaxed her to run 5kms at the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon and there was no looking back. She took to running as a stress buster and to stay fit.

Tulja has done a couple of 10kms runs and 7 Half marathons. She believes that if you run, you are a runner. It doesn’t matter how fast or how far. It doesn’t matter if today is your first day or if you’ve been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no licence to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.

She's grateful ,happy and honoured to be a pacer of the prestigious NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2022.
