I am thrilled to announce that I will be participating in the upcoming NMDC Marathon as a pacer for the first time. Taking on this role means I will be leading the 10K 70 minutes bus, guiding and motivating a group of runners to complete the race within 70 minutes. This opportunity fills me with excitement and a sense of responsibility, as I eagerly look forward to supporting and inspiring my fellow runners throughout the race.
To ensure an effective pacing strategy, my plan is to maintain even splits during the race. I will aim to maintain a consistent pace, evenly distributing my energy over the 10K distance. By adopting this strategy, my goal is to assist the runners I am pacing in achieving their goals and finishing the race strong. My meticulous approach to pacing reflects my dedication to providing the best possible support to my fellow runners and contributing to their success.
My running journey started way back 2013, Oct 30 to be precise. Initially it was my weight gain post delivery which motivated me to go for a brisk walk and then to save time I started running. Job and family commitments forced me to pick up time management. I am blessed to have an understanding husband who is also a runner, a caring mom in law and a motivating son.I used to run almost everyday which led to a lot of injuries but my love for running never allowed me to quit running. Recently I turned myself into a barefoot runner. Now, I am a part of the running community of mangalore- Mangalore runner's club ( MRC) where I am encouraged and inspired to set new goals. ...
I am also training under running coach Shreyas Karnad from bangalore.
This is going to be my first 10k run as a pacer in hyderabad and i am super excited about it. My running strategy will be simple. I'll try to maintain my pace of 7 min / km. On climbs I ll not exert much but climbing down I ll be little faster.

My 10k bus is known for camaraderie and bonhomie. I promise the NMDC 10k 90 min bus will be fun-filled ensuring I take all my fellow runners to the finish like just 30 sec short of 90 min. There will be sufficient hydration breaks and the strategy will be to walk/run and enjoy the route together.

Hyderabad has such a beautiful Running course starting from scenic Hussain sagar lake and takes you through Secretariats, ,Raj bhavan road and crosses through KBR National park, you will get into the beautiful Central University Campus and then to Balayogi Stadium. Earlier, I had a wonderful experience pacing Run For Girl Child 10 km run, To pace a 10k run, I don’t start too fast – and aim for even or negative splits. Once we have established our average pace, start the 10K several seconds (usually 5 to 10) slower than our goal pace. Steadily increase the pace until we are running at target pace by mile 3 or 4; then run our fastest in the final mile....
Bottom Line on Pacing a 10K: The rule is to avoid overexerting yourself in the first two miles and aim for even or negative splits. Approaching your run with negative splits will help you steadily expel your energy throughout the race while maintaining a steady pace.

I have been running quite seriously for about 15 years and did my first full marathon in Hyderabad in 2011, when I was 44. Since then I’ve run several marathons and half marathons, including Boston in 2022, with personal bests of approximately 3:22 and 1:32 over the two distances. As I grow older I seem to increasingly enjoy long runs at a relaxed pace. I am a school teacher and have also enjoyed running with and sometimes training students for long distance runs. After that first one, I’ve run the full marathon in Hyderabad another five times, as well as the half in 2019, which was the last time I ran in an event in Hyderabad. ...
I really like this challenging point-to-point route, with its rolling hills and net gain in altitude. And it’s always a good feeling to finish in a stadium!
I have paced the four hour bus for the full marathon in Hyderabad three times, and the two hour bus for a half marathon in Chennai. I’ve found the experience of being a pacer to be very stimulating. You meet interesting people and learn how to be sensitive to others’ rhythms; and it’s a great feeling when they make it over the line with you on the bus.
As for the pacing strategy on the 2 hour bus for the half marathon, it may vary a little but it will be roughly as follows:1st half in 59 minutes at approx 5:35 minutes/km average pace2nd half in 60 minutes at approx 5:41 average paceThe pace will keep fluctuating slightly since it isn’t a flat course, perhaps between 5:25 and 6:00 depending on the slope. We aim not to have any walking breaks.
I look forward to meeting all of you who come on this bus, and wish everyone taking part a great run, regardless of distance and pace!

Taking my fitness to the next level, I am learning swimming, aspiring to do triathlonsMy first Hyderabad half marathon was in 2022, along with my colleagues and Marina Minnals friends. ...
The course was very tough however the environment and vibe around the course was amazing. I have never experienced public, students, activists and music bands in the race course motivating the runners. I completed the half marathon in a net time of 1:45:45, though it was not my best timing in 2022, I am happy with it because of the toughness of the course.I have paced the 10k 50min bus at Freshworks Chennai Marathon 2023 and completed the race in 49 mins 24 seconds.
Course is more of rolling terrain (Up and Down), so plan to do around 5.30 to 5.40 pace in the 1st half and second half around 5.40 to 6 pace depending on terrain. Happy Running, see you all at the start of the race.
Madhur's passion for long-distance running ignited in 2017, and since then, he has left an indelible mark on the running community. With an impressive list of accomplishments, Madhur has conquered numerous half marathons and showcased his endurance at the prestigious Tata Mumbai Full Marathon in 2018.
During the initial phase of his running journey, which Madhur fondly refers to as his first chapter, he dedicated himself to rigorous training with the goal of completing a full marathon, particularly the renowned Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM). Within a few months, distances that once seemed insurmountable began to shrink in significance. Madhur challenged himself by running multiple 21+km distances weekly in preparation for the ultimate test. ...
However, the absence of a strong focus on strength building resulted in a stress fracture during the TMM in 2018. Despite this setback, Madhur showcased his tenacity and completed his maiden marathonFollowing a successful recovery from the fracture, Madhur entered the second phase of his running and training journey. He strongly believes in the pursuit of efficient running, consistently seeking ways to optimise his performance. Madhur experiments with various terrains, explores different types of running shoes, and participates in diverse race formats to continually enhance his skills. Furthermore, he engages in cross-training activities such as cycling and swimming to strengthen his overall fitness and endurance.
A testament to his relentless dedication and continuous improvement, Madhur achieved an impressive personal best timing of 1 hour 45 minutes in the Tata Mumbai Half Marathon of 2023. As a pacer for the NMDC Hyderabad Half Marathon, Madhur Dixit brings forth a wealth of experience, unwavering commitment, and a holistic approach to running.
I plan to run easy for most part of the run - taking into consideration the various rolling hills and flyovers on the route. The idea is to encourage and motivate everyone who runs with me.
Wish everyone participating in the Hyderabad Marathon a very strong run. See you all at the start line.

I have come a long way and am clinically in remission since and a large part of it is the transformation enabled by the running journey.I ran the full marathon in Hyderabad in 2022. It was special to be able to run in the city where the journey started and get what was then my personal best. With my race schedules for the rest of the year, I am running half this time around

I look forward to pacing an event at home for the first time and will be one of three pacers for the half marathon with a view to finish under 2:15.
I will be in the 3rd corral and will be running G +2. That’s 2 mins after the gun time from when the race flags off. I am going to be running even splits and will be in the 6.15/6.20 pace on flats with a slight variance on the hills of Hyderabad which will get us home with an average pace of 6.24 or under. Join me if you are planning to run it in under 2:15. It’s a good pace group to aim for depending on where you are on your running journey. See you at the expo and on race day!!
Having picked running in my early 40s,I have come a long way starting from Hyderabad Runners Couch to 5K program in 2019. From running merely 250 km in 2019, I ran 2400+ km in 2020 and now have 10,000 Km + overall running experience. My consistency & commitment for running has helped me in improving my Half Marathon timing from 3:02 in 2019 to 1:45 at Adani Ahmedabad in 2022. I have run the Ladakh Full Marathon in 5:00 and my current FM PB is 4:00 at Mumbai TMM 2023. The Hyderabad Marathon is very special to me as I have run the course during my First Half Marathon and I have run the gruelling course as my First Official Full Marathon. The relentless rolling course of the race makes it one of the most challenging race courses across the country – but we runners don’t like things to be easy....
The awesome volunteer support and the picture perfect course makes the run absolutely memorable.I always want to pass my gratitude to the Hyderabad runners and I feel it would be apt for me to choose this event to help others achieve their goals.I am delighted to be picked for the 2:30 half-marathon bus. Having paced in earlier editions of Hyderabad Marathon and Club runs, I am known not only for even splits but also cheering the folks running along. Let’s keep it simple as I plan to go for even splits and very importantly enjoy the course and sag support.

I have been running for more than 6 years and have run many half marathons and 3 full marathons. I started my running journey through Hyderabad runners K25k program and over the period running became part of my life. By pacing I intend to help runners to achieve their own goal.
I am an active mother who is devoted to home and office and believes to raise my standard. I took up running at the age of 34 as a part of a Hyderabad 10 km event.
I run and set this time as “Time for myself” which would help me to plan out my whole day's activities including personal and official.Nothing is possible without family support. This support has made me build up the courage and do 2 full-timed marathons in Hyderabad, one Full timed in Mumbai, one 50 km timed ultra-marathon, and one full non-timed Marathon run to date.I believe that the way we have an entire day well-planned schedule for daily activities, on similar levels we should also include a one-hour physical workout in our daily timetable....
If physical activity is combined with a good nutritious diet, then an individual can see progressive results in their body.I am a strong plan devotee. This helps me to achieve the practical goal set for myself. The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work. Work is the key to success, and hard work can help you achieve anything.

During our weekly long runs, I have done mutual pacing with new runners and that will be guiding me to take my bus on time.As a 2:50 bus , With an average pace of 8:00:00 per kilometre, my strategy is to start slowly, respect the elevations, mostly run at a pace between 7 :15 to 8:30,and finish it strong . There will be ample hydration breaks at SAG points and a slow run walk in the elevations. The aim is to finish strong and carry a lot of happy memories.

The Hyderabad Marathon has a special place in my heart, having run my first Full Marathon here in 2014. Since then I have been coming back to run at Hyderabad year after year, not just because of the challenging course but for experiencing the warm and friendly vibes and the superb organisation. I have run the FM at Hyderabad 7 times till date. I did my first half-marathon pacing assignment in 2014, and have been regularly pacing Half and Full Marathons ever since. I have paced the 4:00 bus at Tata Mumbai Marathon (2019, 2020), the 3:45 bus at TMM 2023 and the 4:30 bus at Hyderabad Marathon (2017, 2018 & 2019). Running and pacing at Hyderabad is always very exciting, and I look forward to pacing the 4:00 hrs bus this year. A Sub-4 hr at Hyderabad is a very challenging time, and it is recommended that participants of this bus be presently capable of running a 1:46 or faster HM on a flat course (or 1:53 on a hilly course like Hyderabad). Of course we will have a detailed strategy and implement it correctly in order to achieve the goal. The first 9 km around the Hussain Sagar lake will be the key. The idea is to use the cool morning, fresh legs and flat terrain to run fast at just the right pace to bank time without getting tired. Thereafter we would be running at the pace appropriate to the terrain, i.e. faster on declines and slower on inclines with strategic walk breaks in order to finish on time within 4 hours. See you at Hyderabad and good luck with your training!

It was fun training with the team participating in the events running with the group. The distances moved from 5 Mile to HM and beyond. 3.40 is my best Marathon time and 130 K is the longest run that I have done. Over the past few years, I have become more of a trail runner.
I along with our group of runners from Soles of Cochin always looked forward to the Hyderabad Marathon. I have participated in 4 editions of Hyderabad and based on my experience would like to say that it is easily the best road running event in the whole of India....
If you are running only one Marathon in a year, then Hyderabad is the place to be. The professional manner in the way the event is organised by Hyderabad Runners and the support from the Children lining up on course are the reasons to come back to Hyderabad year after year.I began my pacing journey with the 4.30 bus at Hyderabad last year. I have been pacing my fellow runners at Cochin and elsewhere post the first experience.
I plan to finish the first half in 2 Hr 10 minutes and the second half in 2 Hr 20 Minutes. The first 10 K being flat around the lake would be doing it at 6.05/km pace. The next 10 K has some inclines and propose to slow down to about 6.25/km. The next 10 K has some downs as well as inclines. Would move at 6.15/km on the downs and at 6.45/km on the inclines doing a run walk plan. Remaining distance would be covered at a steady pace of 6.25/km. The pace plan includes 10 s water break at Aid stations depending on your preference.

Over the years, running has become an integral part of my life, shaping my physical and mental well-being. I have participated in numerous races, from local 5Ks to half marathons to full marathons and many ultra marathons. Each race has been a unique experience, pushing my limits.
It will be my first time running this iconic course, and I am filled with a mix of excitement and anticipation. The Hyderabad marathon is known for its picturesque route, winding through the city's vibrant streets, historic landmarks, and breathtaking landscapes. The experience of running through the heart of Hyderabad will be truly unforgettable, and it will leave a lasting impression in my running journey....
In addition to my passion for running, I have recently ventured into the world of pacing. This is my first time as a pacer in the Hyderabad marathon. Pacing involves guiding and motivating fellow runners to achieve their desired finish times during a race. It will be an immensely rewarding experience, as I get to contribute to the success and happiness of other runners. Although I am relatively new to pacing, I have found great fulfilment in helping others reach their goals while sharing my love for running.
Looking ahead to the forthcoming NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2023, my pacing strategy will revolve around maintaining a steady and consistent pace throughout the race. I believe in the importance of starting off conservatively to ensure that energy is conserved for the later stages of the marathon. I will encourage runners to find a comfortable rhythm that allows them to settle into their pace without burning out too quickly. As a pacer, my role will be to provide constant motivation and reassurance, reminding runners to stay focused on their individual goals and reminding them of the milestones they have accomplished.
In conclusion, running has shaped my life in countless ways, and the Hyderabad marathon will hold a special place in my heart. As I embark on my journey as a pacer, I am excited to share my love for running and help others achieve their goals. The forthcoming NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2023 presents an opportunity for me to connect with the running community, inspire fellow runners, and contribute to the collective celebration of human endurance and perseverance. Together, let us lace up our shoes, embrace the challenge, and make this marathon an unforgettable experience for all.

5 Hr FM pacing strategy is to keep it simple by maintaining a positive split (one minute slower average pace in second half) with adequate hydration stops and walking breaks over inclines....

Hello Runners,Myself Dr Anup Rajan from Fort Runners Palakkad. I started running in the year 2017 to reduce weight.Never ever in my wildest dreams I thought of becoming a runner. But as they say Running is like Mafia, once you get inside you can't get outside. The bug got into me after my first HM at cochin in 2018.Then there was no turning back. From an 2.45Hm to 1.50Hm and 5hr FM to 4.20 FM.Running for me is like meditation..Hyderabad marathon is one of my favourite marathons. This is my third consecutive year at Hyderabad marathon. As a pacer this is my first FM assignment.I look forward to run the first half of the race in 2.25hrs and second half in 2.35hrs..Looking forward!!
'She was a runner!' The words that I would want to go on my epitaph. Running is meditation, one foot ahead ,leaving a thousand negative thoughts behind with every passing mile. Sweat, pain, injuries all become trophies over years. You don't buy them, you fight over the odds and earn them. This characteristic shines brighter than any precious metal or stone giving me an identity beyond a woman, wife, mother, daughter or any relationship. We all are born runners but just few of us create and carve our exclusive trait as a runner.
My (official runner's) journey started in 2012, with the AHM half marathon. The time when I only knew ONE thing which was that I need to #run an odd 13 miles to get a shiny medal at the finish line. ...
From an everyday, self trained runner to a long distance runner and a gym enthusiast it had its uphill & downhill mirroring the toughest road runs of India, the Hyderabad Marathon. Pain, cramps, myth bursts, 😪, rain showers and the delicious goodies in the box post run are still fresh in my mind even after a decade of running, strengthening, mentoring and sharing what i learnt and am still learning. From 100 mtrs to 13 miles on this tough course of unending roads, 3 big flyovers, I still beam with extreme pride and strong memories of my special city run. ❤️
It's my first ever pacing experience for any event and that also translates into a mixed feeling of anxiety, anticipation and excitement. The flag bearer of a 5:30 hr bus ,leading all levels of runners to the other side of pain, passion, sweat , grind and immense pride. I look forward to taking this responsibility with utmost seriousness, honesty and as a learning experience. I plan to run the first half in and around 02:30 - 02:40 whilst keeping the 'josh' tempo and comfort of the fellow runners. From the start line to the finish line, ' let the music play'. 🎶 Cheers!!
Hyderabad pulled me into running and I started my running journey with Club run 2019. Later, I participated in all the events of Hyderabad runners including the stadium run. Now, running is my passion. I am now a seasoned, consistent and disciplined runner clocking more than 2500+ kilometres every year. Running every day with the tagline of #IamActiveToday for 1157 days in a row and counting. Completed two FMs and two ultra (50K) and 88 HMs so far.
This is my fourth consecutive participation in the Hyderabad Marathon. My very first half marathon and the debut full marathon was at Hyderabad Marathon course in 2019 and 2021 respectively. I paced HM 2:30 bus last year (2022) and pacing FM 5:30 bus this year....
It gives me immense pleasure to run with a group and support them to achieve their goals. Earlier, I paced three half marathons (2:45, 2:30 and 2:15 buses). This is my first FM pacing.Having a pacing plan which consists of positive splits by considering elevations, walk breaks and sag point stops. Very familiar with the route and hence the first half will be covered in 2:30 hours (around 7.07 min/K) and the second half will be adjusted accordingly. I would love to share my experience, stories and engage the runners to make the experience enjoyable. Happy running.

He has also organised several small events such kids run, pink run, last Sunday of the month, 12 hour (night run) challenge, 100 days challenge, 101 days challenge in Mumbai. Hari believes and loves mentoring new runners in achieving their goals. The Hyderabad marathon route is one of the toughest city marathon routes due to several flyovers in between. First 10km is flat around the Hussain Sagar lake, post 10km route is either elevation or rolling hills. The climbs at the end of the race make it more challenging.I will be targeting the first HM distance in 2 hours 45 minutes and 2nd HM in 3 hours 15 minutes. Will be taking walk breaks post every water station.
Read MoreMy name is Shajan Samuel. I have been working in the corporate industry for the last 26 years, out of which 16 years have been in a leadership role. I started running 9 years back, it happened off the fly, I was obese weighing around 94 years. Running was a respite to escape from the rigmarole of a frenzied agitated life. Later on, I took to running like a fish to water and it became an inward journey. I lost around 25 kgs and transitioned into long distance running.Over time I have run several marathons and ultras. Few of them are The Border 100km, Rohtang epic 80 km Garhwal 74, 12/24/36 hour stadium run, 220 km once and 161 km thrice in a span of 6 months. This year I could complete the Comrades Marathon 87.7km in 11.17 hours. My PB in a full marathon is 3.59 hours. I am also the Ambassador for fit India movement...
I am running the Hyderabad full marathon for the first time and thankful for the Hyderabad running group for entrusting me with my first pacing assignment.Since I am pacing the 6-hour bus, I believe there will be a lot of debutants excited to cross the finish line. We shall start slow and maintain a steady HR. Downhill we shall accelerate and uphill (flyovers) we shall jog and walk, first half of the Marathon we shall conserve energy and will attempt to finish in 3 hours, second half we shall target 2.58.30 hours. We have a lot of time to cover up so don't rush in the beginning, the adrenaline will pump in at the start line, but we shall run well within our limitations and make a strong and emphatic finish. We shall do this together.
